Sam Hafertepe Jr. Collects Unprecedented Fifth Consecutive ASCS Nation Sprint Tour Championship
Mesquite, Texas (Oct 17th, 2020) Already having a commanding lead in the ASCS National Sprint Tour Sam Hafertepe Jr. wanted close out the final weekend of the season with a clean sweep and win his fifth consecutive series championship. During the first night of the 47th Annual Winter Nationals he would earn his series leading 8th victory of the season and take one step closer to his season goal. Starting on the pole he would lead every lap but not without pressure from the second and third place drivers as Hafertepe Jr. noted “every time we come to the bowl, we want to win. This place means a lot to me just because I have so many friends and family around here.” Night number two and the final season feature would see Hafertepe Jr. start fifth and work his way to a solid third place finish and capture his fifth straight championship. Rounding out the top 10 in points are fellow Allstar drivers Harli White with a fifth place finish, Dylan Westbrook in seventh while wrapping up the 2020 National Rookie of the Year honor and Matt Covington landing a strong eighth in points.
